TWW: Day 9 and Day 10

Day 9

We loaded the car and started our journey to Ocean City, New Jersey. We met up with friends and spent most of the day on the beach.

Avery loved it...so much that she actually fell asleep under the umbrella! (I'm still in shock)

Just a word of caution to those of you with little ones...sand with a toddler is No joke! It gets EVERYWHERE! (I've always hated sand, but I now think it's evil)

So, if you find yourself on the beach with someone who detests sand as much as I do, remember to bring baby powder! (It makes the sand wipe off!)

After we checked into the condo we showered and prepared for our night on the boardwalk.

I can't upload the pictures until I download them to my computer, but Avery loved the rides! She and I shared polish water ice. Meg was happy with her soft serve ice cream.

It was a nice start to our vacation.

Day 10

It has been almost two years since we tested positive with Avery (on day 10)

We didn't want to test yesterday because it was our first day of vacation.

At 5 o'clock this morning Meg and I went into the bathroom. She peed on the stick and I anxiously waited.

Sure enough, she shook her head and handed me the test with two lines.

It's very early, but I'm happy to report that we ARE pregnant.

Avery isn't so sure how she feels about it!

  2. What?!?!?!? Seriously! What wonderful wonderful wonderful news. So happy for all three of you. Can't wait to hear more about this leg of the journey! You know, when I first started reading your blog, my wife and I were in the very pits of the adoption process. As I write this comment, my wife is busy putting our six month old daughter to bed. Your family has given me so very much inspiration and I could not be happier for your BFP!

    1. Hi! Congrats on starting the ttc process!

Please don't ever hesitate to ask questions.

In terms of the bottle it was a personal choice. Someone told meg that if she wasn't fully invested in breast feeding than she should opt for bottles. For us, it was just easier. It's a big time commitment with pumping and such. I was able to make a bottle in the middle of the night without waking up meg. Formulas have the nutrition needed for happy and healthy babies, so we were never worried about that.

Meg was worried about the backlash she would receive from breast feeding advocates, but we never had any problems. People asked why we chose bottles, but never criticized us for our decision.

We have friends who breastfeed. They seem to love it.

I wish I had a better answer, but truthfully it all comes down to what works best for your family.

With bottles, I never felt disconnected. Avery is my little shadow.

With breast feeding you could pump so that your partner could feed the baby. As far as I know, It is only in the beginning (until your milk really comes in) that you would be the sole provider (until you can pump) BUT I could be totally wrong on that!

Talk it out. If you feel strongly tell your partner why. Consider her feelings, reassure her, and go from there.

Tell your partner not to fret. There are ways to bond way beyond feeding! Your baby will love both of you because you will love him/her.
