First Date

Image
For the past 8 weeks Meg and I have spent every waking moment with Avery.  This afternoon we dropped Avery off at my mom's house and headed out for a date.  Don't get too excited...it was far from a wine and dine experience.. Our first date consisted of organic pizza and a trip to our local used bookstore (Meg LOVES books). We called in our order before setting foot in the store, so we figured we had about 15 minutes to spend browsing the books. Before we knew it, we both had stacks of books in our hands and had spent more than 20 minutes searching. All of the sudden, I realized I left my wallet at home.  Long story short, our 15 minute date turned into an hour because we had to run home to grab my wallet, stop to pick up the books at the bookstore (and the new Jason Mraz CD) and then drive back to pick up the munchkin. When we arrived at my mom's house, Avery was sound asleep in her pack n play. We put her in the carseat, drove to pick up the pizza and t

Avery's First Beach Trip

Image
Yesterday Meg and I took Avery to Long Beach Island. While it was way too hot to set foot on the sand or even take a walk, we had a great time driving down and hanging out in my grandparents' air conditioned house! Here are some pictures from yesterday's excursion... There wasn't a cloud in the sky!!! Avery was great...She LOVED the ceiling fans and slept peacefully through both of her naps. Avery loved being the center of attention (as usual)! She enjoyed spending time with her great grandparents (I'm pretty sure they loved it too!!) But nothing compared to spending quality time with her moms... I think it's safe to say that this happy little girl will grow up loving LBI as much as Meg and I do... BONUS: I managed to catch Avery's first attempt at a roll (Don't get too excited. She'

Update/ 6 weeks

When I don't post for an extended period of time I always feel as if I need to give a synopsis as to what you've missed. In my head, it always sounds really quick and ends with "so, here's what you missed on Glee." Ha... So, here's what you missed about the Wiegand's: -I had to interview for a different teaching position (my school is being taken over). -I signed a contract with my new school. -I tried to go vegan and found out I'm allergic to soy. -We had friends come to visit and meet Avery for the first time. -Megan took Avery to the mall, to visit her former class (from student teaching), and to run errands ALL BY HERSELF!!! -Megan and I have been bickering about everything under the sun...all is well, but hormones are no joke! -Avery moved out of newborn diapers and into level 1's. -Avery has grown out of almost all of her newborn clothes. -She is now drinking 4.5 ounces of formula. -She's going bald, but still has a pseudo mu

1 month checkup/Stats

Image
Today was Avery's one month checkup...aside from filling out the new patient paperwork (we switched pediatricians) we absolutely LOVED the doctor our friend recommended! We asked him about Avery's dry skin and he said to just continue putting lotion on it as to avoid "Cradle Crap!" Our next appointment is July 6th. Until then, we just have to continue doing what we're doing. Ready for the best part...check out how much she weighs!!! She's a little porker! Avery's stats : Born May 3- 6 lbs 10 oz; 20 inches long 1 week checkup- 6 lbs 10 oz; 20 inches long 1 month (5 weeks) checkup- 9lbs; 21.25 inches long The doctor said, "I bet she didn't have these when she was born." I asked him what he was referring to and he pointed to her thighs! Gotta love it!

My Girl(s)

Image
Megan will forever be the love of my life. There are so many songs that remind me of her. The song, My Girl, used to, but has since taken on a new meaning...Avery loves it when I sing it to her... I've got sunshine on a cloudy day When it's cold outside, I've got the month of May I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl, my girl, my girl Talkin' 'bout my girl My girl I've got so much honey, the bees envy me I've got a sweeter song than the birds in the trees Well, I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl, my girl, my girl Talkin' 'bout my girl My girl I don't need no money, fortune or fame I got all the riches baby one (woman) can claim Well, I guess you'd say What can make me feel this way? My girl, my girl, my girl Talkin' 'bout my girl My girl I love my girls...

Pictures/Best Friends

Image
Relaxing after work... More pictures from the momarazzi... Tonight we discovered that Heineken and Avery are just about the same length... What can I say? They're best friends...Heineken even tells us when Avery has a dirty diaper...as if we didn't already know!

The next Hunger Games star

Image
Avery had a really rough night...she was up every 3 hours...to make matters worse, Meg refused to let me do the 12 o'clock feed and has been up with her ALL night. So...in order to make my exhausted wife smile, I'm posting the picture of the next Hunger Games star... Seriously...look at that form and focus!

One Month!

Image
Before I say Happy "1 month" to the most beautiful baby girl in the whole world, I wanted to tell you that Avery slept from 7:50-11:50 and again from 12:30-6 this morning! It was fantastic! So...you're probably wondering how we celebrated "1 month"...We bought Avery a special liquid cake from Whole Foods...it's amazing what they can do with organic formula these days! Totally kidding...we started the day by disassembling my mom's pack n play (we were borrowing it so that we could have one downstairs and keep ours in our bedroom). We then took one month photos (Avery wasn't really feeling it today). Before the night is over, we plan to take a walk (if the rain holds off) and then give Avery a bath.  Nothing special. Just a nice day together as a family! Here are Avery's "1 month" photos:

First Night in Crib/Trip to see Meg's parents (LOTS of pictures!)

Image
So...last night was Avery's first night in her crib. It wasn't a bad night, but it wasn't the 2-4.5 hour stretches we've grown accustomed to. Instead, Avery ate at 8pm...slept from 8:50-12:00, ate again at 12...slept from 12:35-3:15...ate at 3:20...was awake until 4:20...slept from 4:20-7:00. Oh, and she had two poop explosions! Meg and I felt like zombies when we woke up! Avery, on the other hand, woke up happy as can be. I guess she was proud that she made it through her first night in her crib!  Her brothers were proud of her too... This afternoon we took Avery to visit her Mommom and Poppop (Meg's parents), her Uncle Eddie (Meg's brother) and her cousin Ryleigh (Eddie's daughter)...Avery took a cat nap on the way there (which w
