TWW: Day 7

Today we went to RMA to check Meg's progesterone. They called this afternoon and said her results were perfect. They also said that she did not need to take supplements.

After Avery's nap we headed to Meg's parents' house. We hung out for a bit and then went to a pool party and BBQ.

At Meg's parents' house she practiced her somersaults, showed off her smile, and kissed Buttercup (Meg's parents' English Mastiff)






























At the pool party, Avery splashed, sat in her float, played on the stairs, watched the big kids, and dunked on the basketball hoop. She LOVES the water.








Meg had another emotional moment today. She almost cried because the man at Lee's Hoagie House was "mean to her." She also started to complain about her boobs hurting (she said that when she was pregnant with Avery).

I'm trying not to get my hopes up because I've learned that there aren't any signs. BUT, I really think (and hope) Meg is pregnant.

    Holy cow, how is it already day seven?! What a great idea to count down the days. It seems you gals have stayed busy, which I'm sure is helping. I know you don't want to get your hopes up... So we'll just be hopeful for you!

    I love the picture with the big dog and Avery! Lol. Looks like you girls had a blast, I like Avery's little bathing suit, too cute :)!

Combating gas

Hmm..where do I even begin? Avery has been a great baby from the very first day she was born. So great that she pretty much slept through everything in the hospital (including her hearing test, doctor check up, and some of her hospital photoshoot) When we brought her home it was more of the same. She was a typical sleepy newborn. She rarely cried and was rather predictable. Her only problem was gas. By the time Avery was 2 weeks old, we had switched her to Enfamil Gentlease. It seemed to work better than the Enfamil newborn, but Avery still suffers from gas on occasion.  We tried adding gripe water into her bottles. This caused Avery to develop a rash all over her body (which ultimately made her more uncomfortable). Our most recent attempt revolved around Little Tummies. While the drops do seem to calm her, they only work temporarily. Oh, and Avery despises the taste of them (despite their "berry flavor"). Seriously, I'm waiting for her to foam at the mouth one day!

One Week Later...

It has been 7 days since the birth of our beautiful little girl and I've already learned so much...Here are the highlights so far... 1. I've learned how to change a wet diaper. 2. Keeping with number 1, I've learned that if I don't change Avery's diaper fast enough or if I try to change her before she fully wakes up Avery will pee on me! (definitely not just a boy thing!) 3. I've learned how to change a poopy diaper. 4. Keeping with number 3, I've learned that Avery can (and will) projectile poop if I don't change her diaper fast enough (happened twice so far!) 5. I've learned how to swaddle Avery (Meg is still much better at this than I am!) 6. I've learned how to make a bottle. 7. I've learned how to burp Avery..I'm kind of an expert! 8. I've learned how to tell when Avery is hungry (she does this weird thing with her tongue...Meg calls it rooting...I call it "Barney Crouch-ing"...after the guy in Harry Pot

First Visit to the Pediatrician

Avery had her first doctor's appointment today. She did well. She didn't gain any weight, but she didn't lose any either (still 6lbs 10 oz). The doctor told us that she looked great. He said that her "Angel's kiss" (pink mark above her eye) will continue to fade. He also pointed out her "Stork bite" (it's a red mark...kind of looks like a rash...on the back of her neck) and said that too will fade with time. We weren't worried...we didn't even know it existed (it's covered by her hair!) I think Meg and I were more phased by the appointment than her. She had a wet diaper and they suggested we change her on the community changing table. They had the paper roll to cover the table, but all we could think of was GERMS! Then, there was a little girl who walked way too close and coughed (yuck!) Needless to say, when we got home we took off all of our clothes (and Avery's) and washed all of our hands.
