Tonight we discovered that Heineken and Avery are just about the same length...


What can I say? They're best friends...Heineken even tells us when Avery has a dirty diaper...as if we didn't already know!

I know it's been a few days since I last blogged, so I just wanted to give you an update... Meg and I have been busy getting ready for the new school year (she came to school with my mom and I and organized my classroom library!!) She's still feeling nauseous and doesn't seem to have much of an appetite. She claims that it's all worth it, so that's a good sign! Friday is our next ultrasound appointment...I think we're supposed to hear the heartbeat, so that's exciting! With only 2-4 weeks left at RMA we're running out of time to find an obgyn. This afternoon I spoke with a receptionist from a doctor's office affiliated with a brand new hospital opening in November. It's only 17 minutes from our house, so it's perfect AND it's located in NJ, so my name can go on the birth certificate at the time of the birth. BONUS! The receptionist was really nice. Combating gas

Hmm..where do I even begin? Avery has been a great baby from the very first day she was born. So great that she pretty much slept through everything in the hospital (including her hearing test, doctor check up, and some of her hospital photoshoot) When we brought her home it was more of the same. She was a typical sleepy newborn. She rarely cried and was rather predictable. Her only problem was gas. By the time Avery was 2 weeks old, we had switched her to Enfamil Gentlease. It seemed to work better than the Enfamil newborn, but Avery still suffers from gas on occasion.  We tried adding gripe water into her bottles. This caused Avery to develop a rash all over her body (which ultimately made her more uncomfortable). Our most recent attempt revolved around Little Tummies. While the drops do seem to calm her, they only work temporarily. Oh, and Avery despises the taste of them (despite their "berry flavor"). Seriously, I'm waiting for her to foam at the mouth one day!

One Week Later...

It has been 7 days since the birth of our beautiful little girl and I've already learned so much...Here are the highlights so far... 1. I've learned how to change a wet diaper. 2. Keeping with number 1, I've learned that if I don't change Avery's diaper fast enough or if I try to change her before she fully wakes up Avery will pee on me! (definitely not just a boy thing!) 3. I've learned how to change a poopy diaper. 4. Keeping with number 3, I've learned that Avery can (and will) projectile poop if I don't change her diaper fast enough (happened twice so far!) 5. I've learned how to swaddle Avery (Meg is still much better at this than I am!) 6. I've learned how to make a bottle. 7. I've learned how to burp Avery..I'm kind of an expert! 8. I've learned how to tell when Avery is hungry (she does this weird thing with her tongue...Meg calls it rooting...I call it "Barney Crouch-ing"...after the guy in Harry Pot
