6 month check up and first road trip

Let me just preface this post by stating that I wrote this blog weeks ago! The hold up occurred because blogger wouldn't let me upload pictures (apparently I used up all of my free storage) To make matters worse, I accidentally deleted pictures from my earlier posts while trying to figure it out (I'll tackle that problem another day) As of now, the crisis seems to be resolved (I created a shutterfly share site)

Now to the original post...

Avery's 6 month check was, by far, the most traumatizing of all of her appointments thus far...she had serious stranger danger for the nurse and flipped at the doctor when he was examining her (she screamed bloody murder and had real tears!) She had to have 4 shots and the rotavirus. In terms of stats, she was/is perfect. She was 27 inches (85%) and weighed 17 lbs 4 oz (70%)

This past weekend Megan and I took Avery to New York. It was our first official road trip (unless you count our trip to the beach when she was really little) and our first time staying in a hotel.

Avery was great. We planned the drive around her naps. worked like a charm, as she slept the entire way there (and back).

On Friday, we picked up Panera Bread (so much more expensive than PA, but totally worth it!) and then checked into the hotel. We fed Avery food and let her get acclimated. We then put her down for a nap. When she woke up we took her to the "heated" indoor pool.

The water was way too cold...I could barely get my legs in. Avery loved it though. We were only in the water for a few minutes, but we managed to get plenty of pictures!

On Saturday, we went to our friend's house (Aunt Paff) and had breakfast with her and her mom. Avery played on the floor and enjoyed some food and puffs, while we munched on bagels. After breakfast we had to haul ass back to the hotel to prepare for the baby shower.

We had less than an hour to get the three of us showered and dressed. We also had to put Avery down for a nap. It was a little stressful, but we somehow managed to make it to the restaurant in time for Meg to help set up.

The food was awesome (we had calamari, salad, penne vodka, chicken parm, and way too many desserts!) Meg helped to make sure our friend enjoyed her special day and I got to parade Avery around. She was good as gold. It was a great day!

Here are some of the highlights from the shower:

Meg's first attempt at a diaper cake...

Meg's super addictive brownie pops.

Saturday night we went out to eat at Panera. It wasn't as good as Friday (not sure if it was because we were full from the shower or just because the workers were in a rush) BUT we had fun with our friends.

When we went back to the hotel we passed out. Avery slept through the night without a peep (she slept through the night on Friday too!)

On Sunday, we went to the Christmas Tree Shoppe (the best store in the world!) and then met our friends at a diner for breakfast.

It was an amazing weekend. I (we) can't wait until baby Mia is born, so we can do it again!

Christmas Card Sneak Peek

I know it's probably hard to believe (seeing that we've been together for almost 10 years), but Meg and I created our very first Christmas card today.

While I cannot reveal the official card...(not yet, at least)...here are a few pictures from today's photo shoot.

*Note* The following pictures were not chosen for the actual card as there were many others, which we found to be cuter

We're Back!!!

I can't believe that it has been over two months since I last blogged. There is so much to report that I don't even know where to begin. I guess I should go in chronological order, so lets rewind to Avery's 4 month birthday (I think that's where we left off)

4 months (September 3)
Avery's 4 month check up went well. She was 26 inches (93rd percentile) long and weighed 15 lbs 9 oz (79th percentile).

Also, in September...Avery got her second tooth and slept through the night for the first time (it took her long enough!!)

She also went on a swing for the first time (I had a cute video, but I can't seem to pull it up)

Mid-September we took Avery to a scarecrow festival...we bought Avery some bows and enjoyed a nice fall evening together.

We also went to the Camden aquarium...Avery loved looking at the fish!

We had family portraits taken for my mom's birthday..Avery was awesome!

Meg and I went to a wedding, so we left Avery with my parents. (It was our first time away from her for an extended period of time! We had a good time, but I text my parents 1,000+ times!)

Avery started sitting up (though she still needed a lot of support) Oh, and she finally fit in her DUKE onesies!

We took Avery to our local farm. We went on a hayride to the pumpkin patch. Avery loved it!

5 months

Avery sported a strange facial rash for her 5 month birthday. Still not sure what it was from. She was really cranky despite the smiles in the pictures below!

Avery started drinking water out of a cup. She thought she was so cool...look at her drinking one handed!

We took Avery to the market day festival in our town. There, she was reunited with her boyfriend, Jack, and his two moms.

On October 12, 2012 we went to court for Avery's adoption...the judge approved it! Avery is legally my daughter!

On October 13th, Meg and I celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary. Here are two pictures from our wedding in Cape Cod, MA...

Avery went down a slide for the first time.

She said "Da Da" (October 14th) My response..."You don't have one. Try two mamas!"

Avery learned how to dance. Her favorite song is "The Wobble."

We visited Meg's parents. There, Avery dressed up in her lady bug costume and painted a pumpkin. (Make sure to check out her two teeth!)

Avery met a new friend...Rylee...Rylee is a few weeks older and also has two moms. They're too cute together!

The girls went trick or treating for the first time together...Avery was a Lady bug and Rylee was an Owl...Love Avery's monster face!

6 months

This weekend we took Avery to an Apple Festival. We celebrated Meg's birthday (she's 28) and Avery's half birthday (so cool that their birthdays are 6 months apart) and ate lots of delicious apple pastries!

Avery's 6 month check up will be November 12th. She's working on her 3rd tooth (this one is on top). Other than that, I think we're pretty much up to date!!!
